WHAT IS a tummy tuck?
A flat and firm abdomen is something that many of us strive for through fitness and diet. Sometimes these methods are not enough to achieve our goal.
Tummy tuck surgery removes excess fat and skin and, in some cases, restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.
DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY
Anaesthesia Type: General (patients are asleep)
Duration of Surgery: 2-2.5 hrs
In/Outpatient: Patients go home the same day
Length of Recovery and Return to Work: This can be a painful surgery so it depends on the type of work patients do. Time off from work can range from 1-4 weeks, but most commonly 2 weeks. Patients are advised to wear an abdominal binder for up to 6 weeks after surgery to reduce swelling, support their stomach muscles, and achieve the best possible results
Final Results: Generally at 3 months with the scar lightening to normal skin colour usually by 1 year
Post-Operative Medication: Patients are given both pain killers and antibiotics for management
Pricing: Can vary based on the type and extent of the surgery
*SPECIAL NOTE*: Patient must not be a smoker (including marijuana) as this causes the skin to die and prolongs the healing process – For this reason, Dr. Matic does not perform this surgery on smokers
